Formerly, he held positions as Assistant Professor of Jewelry/Metals program at Department of Art, Design & Art History, San Diego State University, California; Visiting Assistant Professor at The School of Art, Northern Illinois University, Illinois; and Professor at the School of Design, Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia, USA. Additionally, he served as an Instructor at the Department of Industrial Design, King Monkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, and at the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University in Thailand. He holds an MFA with Honors from The University of Kansas, an M.A. from The Texas Woman’s University, Texas, USA, and a BArch from King Monkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Thailand.
Taweesak has received numerous awards and honors, including the Outstanding Alumni (Art and Design) 2020 Award from the 60th anniversary of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Bangkok, Thailand; the Designer of the Year 2005 Award from Silpakorn University in Bangkok, Thailand; the Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity Award for ‘The Edges of Grace: Provocative, Uncommon Craft’ from San Diego State University in San Diego, California; the SNAG Cultural Diversity Award from the Society of North America Goldsmith Conference in Seattle, Washington; The Best of Show Award from The Octagon Center for The Arts in Ames, Iowa, and the Brooklyn Union Award of Merit in Staten Island, New York, USA.
His work has been featured in both private and public collections, including the Permanent Collection of The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), California, and the Tacoma Art Museum in Tacoma, Washington, USA.
Taweesak has served as Artist in Residence for various programs, including the Sala Oasis: Social Participatory Art Project for Artist in Residence program 2019 at The Peninsula Bangkok, Bangkok, Thailand; the Cleaning the House workshop at the Marina Abramovic Institute for the Bangkok Art Biennale 2018, Thailand; Artist in Residence at The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, in 2015; and Artist in Residence for the “Creative-in-Residence” program at the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), Hong Kong, in 2012.
